Road   

The M74 motorway is the main arterial route running through Wigtownshire, connecting north through Lanarkshire and eventually to Glasgow. The A7 also provides the county with connections to Edinburgh and Carlisle, whilst the A75 links Stranraer with Dumfries.

Rail     

The main railway stations in the vicinity are Dumfries, which links to Glasgow Central and Lockerbie which sites on the West Coast Main Line and links to Birmingham, Manchester, London and Edinburgh.

Air 

Glasgow Prestwick is marginally closer than Glasgow airport, although both are within travelling distance of Wigtownshire, and the principal airport hubs for flights throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.

Ferries 

Stranraer on the west coast is the main connection between mainland Scotland and the Republic of Ireland, with regular sailings year round.
