Road   

 

The main A483 runs north to south through the county, providing direct road access to Wrexham and Chester in the north to the Brecon Beacons and ultimately Cardiff in the south, providing the main arterial route to and from the county. The A470 provides access to Cardigan Bay and the west coast through Snowdonia National Park.

 

Rail     

 

With the county town of Montgomery just three miles from Shropshire, Montgomeryshire naturally benefits from strong rail connections to Shrewsbury, Hereford and Chester. It is also possible to indirectly travel to Manchester, Bristol, Gloucester and London Euston from the county, making it easy to get around by train.

 

Air 

 

Mid Wales Airport is located within Montgomeryshire, but is a small private airport offering limited passenger flights. Manchester airport is also accessible from the county offering a range of international and domestic locations, and is just a short commute from Montgomeryshire.

Ferries 

 

The ferry port at Holyhead, one of the UK's busiest, offers passenger routes to Douglas on the Isle of Man and to the Republic of Ireland throughout the year.
