Transport Links in Cumbria:
 

Road   

 The M6 motorway serves Cumbria, running north to connect to Glasgow and connecting to Manchester, Birmingham and Preston, ensuring easy transport in and around the Cumberland area. 
 

Rail     

 A popular tourist destination, Cumbria benefits from strong rail links both north and south. Cumbria sits on the West Coast Main Line, the West Cumbrian Line, the Newcastle Line and the Lakes Line which provides access to settlements through the Lake District and the county at large.
 

Air 

 Cumberland is served by two main airports just a short drive out of the county. Liverpool John Lennon Airport provides domestic and international flights, as does Manchester Airport which is connected by strong rail and bus links to destinations within the county.
 

Ferries 

 While no foreign bound ferries leave from Cumbria, there are a number of tourist ferry services in operation throughout the Lake District, serving as an attraction for visitors to the region (including the famous Ullswater Steamers) during peak months. Ferries to Ireland and Europe run from nearby Liverpool on a regular basis.
